Songs and Stories

The words and music of Sheffield based singer-songwriter Pete Fearnley

About

Pete’s music spans folk, pop, rock and instrumentals. He has written two musicals: ‘Hollywood’ and ‘Old King Coal’, plus a web-based musical mystery called ‘Who Killed Johnny B?’.  He has contributed songs to several productions by Steel Valley Beacon - a community arts group based in Stocksbridge, Sheffield. He was musical director for Beacon’s production of Shakespeare’s 'A Midsummer Night’s Dream'. In 2007, Beacon premiered ‘Old King Coal’, with performances to enthusiastic audiences in Sheffield, Wakefield, Barnsley and the Dearne Valley. The production was reprised in July 2009 to mark the 25th anniversary of the 1984-85 Miners’ Strike at the South Yorkshire Festival. More recently, Peter has written and performed with The Wantley Dragons and Red House. The Wantley Dragons have released a CD entitled, 'Hearth and Heart', which is available via Spotify, iTunes, Amazon, etc - as are Peter's solo albums.  His latest, UK Plc, is featured below and is on general release from 30 June 2023.
